
Before I Self Destruct, 50 Cent‘s latest stab at rap, has hit number one on iTunes.
A deluxe version of album was released Tuesday (Nov. 11) at midnight, through the iTunes Store. The LP, which had been pushed back several times since 2008, features the 90-minute film Before I Self Destruct, which was written, and directed by lead actor 50 Cent.
On Thursday, the Queens-bred mogul presented the film at the AMC Loews Kips Bay 15 theater in Manhattan. In the film, 50 stars as a street hoop star named Clarence who turns to the streets to make money after being injured.
The iTunes album features two bonus tracks, including the Polow da Don-produced “Baby By Me.” It also features the documentary 2 Turntables and a Microphone, which explores the 2002 murder of 50’s mentor, Run DMC turntablist Jam Master Jay.
The physical copy of the album will be available in stores Nov. 16. —Linda Hobbs
