After several family complaints, lead actresses and setbacks, the Lifetime network took to Twitter to announce the release date for the highly-anticipated Aaliyah biopic. Titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B will air Nov.15 with Nickelodeon’s Alexandra Shipp starring as Aaliyah. Originally, Disney Channel’s Zendaya Coleman was cast as the “Rock The Boat” singer, but dropped out due to “production issues.” Daytime Talk Show Host, Wendy Williams has also gotten on board to give the project some legs as executive producer of the film. Williams says fans can count on her to get the story right. “I want to know the things you wanna know. What happened with R. Kelly, what was going on with Dame Dash, what was Aaliyah’s personal life really like?”
