Many were rendered shocked about Beyonce’s loss in the Album Of The Year category at the 59th annual Grammy Awards last night (Feb. 12), including the actual winner of the award, Adele.
The musician, whose album 25 bested Lemonade as well as Drake’s Views and Justin Bieber’s Purpose, gave a tear-filled acceptance speech, saying that she “can’t possibly accept the award” due to Beyonce’s “monumental, so well thought out, and so beautiful and soul-bearing” visual album. What you may not have seen, however, was that Adele accidentally broke her trophy for the honor in half. Social media caught wind of the happy accident, with many believing she did it intentionally to share half of the award with Beyonce. While there’s not any confirmation on these rumors as of yet, it would be a beautiful way to celebrate both albums.

Me: Adele has 15 Grammys now! Adele: *breaks her Grammy in two pieces to give the other half to Beyoncé* Me: Adele has 14,5 Grammys now! pic.twitter.com/08UopASGHE — hanny & 14,5 grammys (@adelesoup) February 13, 2017
In a press conference after the show, Adele continued to gush for reporters about one of her favorite musicians. “Like I said in my speech, my Album of the Year is Lemonade,” she said. “So, a piece of me did die inside, as a Beyoncé stan, not going to lie. I was completely rooting for her, I voted for her. I felt like it was her time to win.” Then she added, “what the f**k does she have to do to win Album of the Year?”
We’re wondering the same thing, Adele.
