
Afeni Shakur acted as the caretaker of Tupac’s music and financial legacy, and even after her passing, it’s been revealed Shakur took major steps to ensure her son’s legacy would remain in the right hands by setting up a trust to control Tupac’s music and finances, according to TMZ.
In regards to her son’s money, formal documents reportedly outlined where and who they are to be allocated. The money is set to go to select charities and family members, according to the site.
Shakur, a former Black Panther, last wish for Tupac’s money and music seem to fit with Afeni’s passion for philanthropy. After her son died, she established the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, which provides art programs for youth. She also started a fashion clothing line, where all of its proceeds went into her foundation.
Afeni Shakur passed away at the age of 69 on May 2, from a reported heart attack. She is survived by her sister Gloria and daughter, Sekyiwa Shakur.
