After growing a large Internet following and grabbing a couple of shout outs from celebrities like Nick Jonas and Taylor Swift for her covers, there’s no question why Alessia Cara has been pegged as one of this year’s breakout artists. But the “Here” singer has put her song covers aside and released original content on her debut album, Know It All.
Know It All is a follow up to her EP, Four Pink Walls, which featured the introverted, antisocial single “Here.” This full-length album features singles like “Seventeen,” “Wild Things,” “Scars To Your Beautiful,” all of which illustrate the nineteen-year-old’s state of becoming.
Although her recent progression from YouTube channels to Def Jam Records has thrust the singer into new levels of fame, her album tells a tales of her disinterest in losing her authenticity, even as she climbs the pop and R&B scales. “I just wanted to be genuine and true to me, and to tell people to appreciate themselves. If I’m kind of an outsider, it just happened that way and people responded to it,” Cara told Elle in an interview.
