After leaving fans in limbo three long years since her sixth studio LP Here, Alicia Keys made her highly-anticipated return to music with “Raise A Man.”
The six-minute track is a piano-based melody that comments on differing looks at relationships and difficulty with becoming clingy and having somebody understand that. Though the single takes many twists and turns through its extended journey, “Raise A Man” is a consistent expedition that brings you through the rise and fall of love’s dynamics.
“How am I supposed to pretend that I don’t want you the way that I do / ‘Cause every time you’re around me, I feel virgin all again / And every time you’re all around me, how can I renege, boy I just need your hand,” she sings over the light key playing that intertwines with the heavy violin strings.
