
The 2015 American Music Awards will hit airwaves next month, and ahead of the live telecast the nominations were announced on Tuesday.
Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the upcoming ceremony places Nicki Minaj, Fetty Wap, Wiz Khalifa, Rihanna, The Weeknd Drake and J. Cole in the running for the top hip-hop and R&B honors. Edging out their peers are The Weeknd and Nicki Minaj, who snagged four and three nods, respectively. The Weekend is up for New Artist Of The Year, Artist Of The Year, Favorite R&B Soul Album and Song Of The Year.Nicki is up for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Artist Of The Year. Next up is Rihanna, who is up for Collaboration Of The Year for “FourFiveSeconds” featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney, as well as Favorite Female R&B/Soul Artist.
Other notable nominations include Fetty Wap’s bid for New Artist Of The Year, Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” earning double nominations, Song Of The Year and Collaboration Of The Year. Drake is also up for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, while J. Cole’s nod for the latter serves as his only one. Kendrick Lamar also earned a single nomination, for Collaboration Of The Year for Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.”
