In preparation for his Oxnard album, which is set to blast through streaming circuits on Nov. 16, Anderson. Paak has enlisted the help from Dr. Dre to gift fans with his newest single “Who R U.”
The 3-minute track packs a mean, right hook with its two-in-one beat compilation. The first being a militaristic, hip-hop influence and the second is a clap-heavy play on the first without the weight from the bass in the header.
The Dr. Dre-produced beat highlights .Paak’s vocals and showcases his lyrical abilities. Although the anthem is missing a 16-bar-verse from the 53-year-old, the single does display Dre’s voice as an undertone to play up the “Tint” rapper.
While Paak conquers both verses in this song, the pair collaborates to bring life to the chorus. “Now, who are you? (Who the f**k is this?)/I don’t know, no/What you do?/I don’t know, no/You short a few? (Oh don’t make me have to lose it)/Oh no, no, hold up/Pull my sticky out the jar, come on,”
“Who R U” is the second track to come from Paak’s upcoming album produced by Dr. Dre and his first official album on Aftermath Entertainment. The artist release “Tint,” featuring Kendrick Lamar earlier this year. The forthcoming project will also follow his 2016 project Malibu.
