Get your playlists ready: it looks like we’re getting close to the release of Anderson .Paak’s fifth album.
Dr. Dre, who signed the 32-year-old to his Aftermath label back in January 2016, announced via his Instagram Wednesday (Sept. 12) that the album is complete. “Just finished mixing the album,” Dre wrote. “It’s a celebration b**hes!!”
Anderson .Paak then took his Twitter account with the same pic with the caption: “ALBUM DONE. Time to bring it back home.”

His album, which is anticipated for release sometime this year, is going to be titled Oxnard, after the Southern California city he grew up. He told Rolling Stone that the LP is named after his hometown as a way to keep him humble. “When you go everywhere,” he said, “you just hold on to the things that made you.”
Musically, Anderson stated that the project is dedicated to a “bygone area of a major-label rap” that is reminiscent of go-hard-or-go-home albums like Jay-Z’s The Blueprint, The Game’s The Documentary and Kanye West’s The College Dropout, which he bumped during his teenage years.
So far, he’s given a peeks this year into where the album may be going with two singles: “Till It’s Over” and “Bubblin,” with the latter having a remix featuring Busta Rhymes.
After building his buzz independently, Anderson .Paak broke out on Dr. Dre’s 2015 comeback album Compton, appearing on six of the tracks. His 2016 album Malibu was his star turn, earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
