The late Aretha Franklin’s Detroit home is now for sale.
Located in Bloomfield Township, Minn., the suburban, colonial-brick style home has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and more than 4,100 square feet. Built in 1990, the home is currently listed for $800,000 and sits on a lot that overlooks the gated community’s pool and tennis courts. It also offers a three-car garage, jetted tub and sauna.
Franklin died of advanced pancreatic cancer at the age of 76 on Aug. 17. At the time of her death, Franklin was not occupying the sprawling home and was surrounded by loved ones in her waterfront condo also located in Detroit.
In addition to the condo and Bloomfield home, Franklin also owned two properties in Detroit’s Highland Park. With no will or trust, Franklin’s entire estate, including her real estate, was divided amongst her four sons.
According to tax assessors’ estimates, the Associated Press reports that Franklin’s real estate proprieties are collectively estimated to be worth approximately $2 million, with a market value that is likely to double.
With an undeniable legacy, an Aretha Franklin biopic is currently in the works. Starring Jennifer Hudson, the production is said to be taking time as Franklin’s career spans over decades.
