As the season gets colder, the many music fans crave warm, tender songs to get them through the chill, and Ari Lennox is the antidote. The 27-year-old singer is keeping her fans fed as she dropped a handful of tracks.
A few days after releasing “Grampa” and “40 Shades of Coke,” Lennox unveiled two new tracks: ‘No One” and “Pedigree” on Tuesday (Nov. 13). This comes about four months after Lennox released her single “Whipped Cream,” which has gone on to garner 4 million streams on Spotify and 232K streams on SoundCloud.
The cover art for the two songs gives off retro vibes, nodding to the tone of both. The nearly two-minute-long “Pedigree” features a soulful R&B melody over a hip-hop backbeat with smooth percussion to match. Here, Lennox sings about how she is not stressing over a former lover. “Hey, baby I noticed, can’t be loved/ Sweet thing let me pretend when we touch/ Oh baby won’t you kiss me there/ Make me forget how you don’t care,” she croons.

“No One,” to some, could be considered reminiscent of Beyoncé’s 2003 hit “Me, Myself & I,” as the song celebrates the positive parts of being alone and not needing anyone.
While we wait in the wings for final details about her forthcoming album, the Washington, D.C. native will be sharing a track with Dreamville frontperson J. Cole on “Shea Butter Baby” for the soundtrack of the highly anticipated upcoming film, Creed II.
