A California shop got a taste of the law after reportedly police started an investigation of Ariana Grande’s doughnut licking scandal.
According to TMZ, the “Problem” singer visited Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, Riverside County with backup dancer Ricky Alvarez last weekend (July 4). A video obtained by TMZ caught Grande and Alvarez licking doughnuts left on the counter, after an employee disappears to bring freshly made treats at the singer’s request. The employee returned to few words Grande later apologized to fans for: “What the f**k is that? I hate Americans. I hate America.” The singer later clarified that her not-so-patriotic views were a comment on childhood obesity.
Now Wolfee Donuts is clarifying the situation to Department of Health officials. The shop is only in violation of health codes prohibiting the doughnuts from being left out on the counter as they were in the video. The shop’s managers ensured that usually doughnuts are not as exposed and accessible to customers, according to what spokeswoman for Riverside County Department of Health spokeswoman told The Associated Press.
Manager Ricky Marin told the Los Angeles Times that customers may have bought the licked doughnuts. No complaints from customers nor charges by the police have been filed.
