On the black carpet at the “Tidal X: 10/20” event in New York City (Oct. 22), A$AP Ferg took the time to share some news concerning his upcoming album. The A$AP mob member revealed that he will be releasing his sophomore project, entitled Always Strive and Prosper.
Along with sharing the name of his new soundscape, the rapper also spoke about the album’s somewhat old vibes. “[I’m] takin’ it back to the A$AP roots where we come from, that’s what A$AP stands for,” he said.
He also explains that this album differs from his 2013 debut effort, Trap Lord. His first project was what any trap album would sound like, revealing what a typical night with A$AP would entail. He says the new album is taking a turn from the typical Ferg. “It’s more musical. It’s just me going out the box. It’s not really my box. If you know me and my music, I do whatever the f**k I want to do. But I feel like for people who expect a certain type of Ferg, they’re going to get something totally different.”
Always Strive And Proper hasn’t received an official release date, but Ferg assures fans that it won’t take too long. “I promise you I’m not gonna pull a Dr. Dre and take 10 years to put out an album but, you know, it’s gonna be out first quarter [of 2016].”
