
Harlem own’s A$AP Rocky covers the latest issue of Billboard and talks his highly-anticipated sophomore album At. Long. Last. A$AP due May 12 via RCA.
In the story, which hits stands May 1, the 26 year old draws a distinction between the two kinds of rappers infiltrating hip-hop.
“I’m famous, I’m popular, but I’m just not a celebrity. I’m an artist.”
Rocky–born Rakim Mayers–also spoke about his venture into fashion and being an original as well as his foray into film including Sundance’s Dope, a coming of age flick about a teen named Malcolm trying to balance the pressures of his last year of high school, while trying to live up to the social anxiety of being a teen.
Rocky also admitted he wasn’t a big fan of Kendrick Lamar’s latest offering To Pimp A Butterfly, and says he only “skimmed” the 16-track album.
“I got about two songs I liked [on the album]” Rocky said.
