Travis Scott is creating all sorts of buzz regarding his Astroworld Tour. While most of the chatter has been full of kids talking about how amazing the show is, some people aren’t quite as happy with it. Rockstar Tommy Lee, in particular, is calling out the rapper for allegedly stealing elements from his old stage designs.
Just to get some of you up to speed, Tommy Lee is the former drummer of the 80s metal band Motley Crüe. Lee made a complaint about Scott on Instagram on Thursday (Nov. 29), claiming the “Sicko Mode” artist ripped off the rollercoaster aspect from his past tours.
“Just found out this f**king idiot [Travis Scott] or someone on his team ripped off the 360 AND The Crüecifly,” Lee wrote. “Get an original idea bro…” Lee’s Instagram post included videos of Scott’s He also compared that design to Lee’s design in 2011, which includes the drummer riding around in a similar coaster contraption.
In a separate post, Lee also claimed that Scott stole from Motley Crüe’s 2015 tour. “I get copying is a form of flattery, but this is just straight ripping off my s**t.”
This wouldn’t be the first time a pop-rock artist has accused a rapper of stealing their stage designs. Earlier in Nov. 2018, Lorde accused Kanye West and Kid Cudi of plagiarizing her previous set deigns during their performance at Camp Flog Gnaw.
Unlike Lorde though, Lee is not taking this incident lightly. He suggested that he will be taking legal action against Scott in the future, writing “hey @trvsxx lawyer up!”
