After sharing with the world a few of the things that have kept him down for the past year and change, August Alsina is back to doing what he does pretty damn well. The NOLA singer released “Don’t Matter,” the sensual slow burner that falls in like with the kind of tunes that won over panty-throwing fans on his Testimony album. It’s the second single off his forthcoming DRUGS album, and the first he’s released in some months.
Just yesterday, with the help of surrogate mom Jada Pinkett Smith, the 24-year-old let the world know that severe illness runs in his bloodline, and he’s been battling liver disease all this time. He doesn’t want sympathy though, which is why he hid his ailments and focused solely on the music. “Don’t treat me like I’m a f*ckin’ cancer patient,” he said. “Because I’m not.”
