Azealia Banks has eyes that can talk, or at least on the Harlem femcee’s trippy, freaky artwork for her “Yung Rapunxel” single.
Banks will drop the lead single from her forthcoming debut Broke with Expensive Taste on March 26, but the “Harlem Shake” rapper is not keeping quiet until then.
Azealia Banks started beef with the Stone Roses when the British rock band — they will headline the first night of Coachella in April — began fumbling around on their equipement during her set at Australia’s Future Music Festival on Friday, March 8.
“Big apologies on behalf of the stone roses to my fans at the festival today,” Banks tweeted. The series of tweets has since been removed. “My ex tour manager made a pact with the stone roses saying they’d sabotage my set because I fired him.. And they decided to check their equipment behind me during my set. F— those old saggy white n***as stone roses. I wish them nothing but excrement and death.”
She continued, “Wow! I must really f—ing be a superstar… You’ve got an established band trying to sabotage my lil rap bitch shine. Wow a bunch of old white men trying to bully a young black girl…. What the f— else is new in this world ???”
Banks’s list of beefs includes fellow female rappers Angel Haze, Iggy Azalea, blogger Perez Hilton and Baauer, the “Harlem Shake” DJ who had her remix of the song taken off of SoundCloud.
Banks said she later ran into the Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown at the fest. “I saw Ian Brown backstage before Prodigy’s set and he charged at me.. We LEGIT almost got into a fist fight. I’m more rock and roll than he is. I would’ve won. It was a pretty classic moment though…. Legendary if you ask me.” She also added, “I was a little turned on. Just a little … Not a lot.”
The two eventually came to a truce. “The Stone Roses apologized to me,” Banks later explained. Let there be peace on Earth.
