Azealia Banks took to Instagram on Monday (Feb. 2), posting a picture of herself in all white makeup with the caption #whiteface. While her followers thought she may have meant it in a prejudice way, she cleared up the confusion on Twitter by explaining that the makeup was for her video, “Ice Princess.” Of course Banks didn’t leave it at that. The Harlem rapstress then began to refer to those who had an issue with it as “crackers” and excusing her use of the term by explaining that she uses the N-word just the same. Banks continued by saying she couldn’t understand why anyone would have a problem with her white face when Snoop Dogg did the same last summer and no one confronted the issue; instead everyone joined in on the joke.
