Nick Cannon‘s Wild ‘N Out has steadily doled out jokes that either hit the audience and cast members with laughter or leave certain targets offended. That was the case for rapper Azealia Banks who appeared on an upcoming episode (Aug. 24 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV).
Following previous headlines on the incident, a video has now surfaced. During a game of “So Petty” where the captains’ teams boost their egos, cast member and former TRL host DC Young Fly caught flack for his jab at Banks. “Nick Cannon is so petty, he couldn’t get Cardi B, so he got Azealia’s ugly a**” he said to mixed reactions. In response, Banks referred to the jab as “anti-black,” and she didn’t find the humor in DC’s statement.
In July, when the show was reportedly taped, the “212” rapper used her Instagram account to share her thoughts. “If I were to make fun of Nick Cannon for having lupus and being weak and sickly……..if I made a joke that said he’d be dead by the end of the year………Then Azealia Banks is the bad guy….Right?”
Cannon also responded to the situation by taking a screenshot of her statement, writing, “Don’t you hate when you create your own storms but forget your umbrella? @azealiabanks We are praying for you Queen.” In a now-deleted IG post, Banks said the joke was premeditated and it was a last minute appearance. “There were tons of pre-planned colorist jokes and of course … cry baby cried,” she said per Billboard. “Some little scrawny black Atlanta twink was prepared for me. They planned this – hit me on short notice, told me I didn’t have to participate in the coon a** freestyle battles, (not my style) and I was to sing my song and go home.”
