Just a few months after dropping “You,” a smoky and sultry collaboration with Kehlani, the rapper is ready to drop the music video via MTV.
The Roc Nation emcee confirmed on Thursday (Aug. 25) that the visuals will drop on the network during a five-hour block (geez) of Ridiculousness Friday evening. “You” was released in May in support of Belly’s third project, Another Day In Paradise. In an interview with Rap-Up in July, the rapper explains the dark ambiances behind the video. “The video is not easy to explain,” he said. “It’s abstract. It’s really a vibe. More than explaining what’s happening in the song word-for-word, the video captures the mood…How do you capture a feeling? How do you show a feeling? That’s what we chase every time we do a video.”

Surrounded by classic chandeliers, Persian rugs and velvet curtains, Belly says working with Kehlani came organically due to their growing friendship. “I work with my friends,” he said. “A lot of us came up [together]. Even guys like French [Montana]. I remember being around French when we were handing out mixtapes in Orlando and shit. [With] Kehlani, she was on her come up. I was just starting my little bubble and we connected just based on good vibes. I think it translated into the music.”
