The On The Run II tour has been the topic of discussion and adoration since it kicked off earlier this year. Beyonce and JAY-Z have trekked across Europe to then settle in the North American leg of their joint concert, promoting their first collaborative album Everything Is Love.
While eager concert-attendees are preparing their choreography or sing-a-long gestures, South Carolina is planning to ease traffic woes ahead of the tour’s mid-August arrival. According to the Associated Press, the state’s officials announced that Richland 1 School District will close six schools early in anticipation of the traffic that school buses may face. All roads will lead to the University of South Carolina’s football arena on Aug. 21.
Before Beyonce embarked on another full-scale live production, she displayed her love of black history during her first Coachella performance in April. In an interview with Vogue for the magazine’s September issue, the “Love On Top” singer expressed the look and feel of the performance was to pay homage to those that allowed her to reach that plateau.
“It was a celebration of all the people who sacrificed more than we could ever imagine, who moved the world forward so that I could welcome a woman of color to headline such a festival,” she said. On the topic of the On The Run II tour, Beyonce also revealed that performing at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany was a top highlight of their trek so far. The reason being that Olympian Jesse Owens went down in history in 1936 when he won four gold medals in track and field.
“Less than 90 years later, two black people performed there to a packed, sold-out stadium,” she said. “When Jay and I sang our final song, we saw everyone smiling, holding hands, kissing, and full of love. To see such human growth and connection—I live for those moments.”
