The passing of model-actress Kim Porter has led to an endless sea of tributes, including a touching one from Beyonce.
On Saturday (Nov. 24), the singer paid tribute to Porter on Instagram with a series of photos of the 47-year-old. The pictures included a childhood portrait, a photo of Porter with her mother and a red carpet moment with Porter and her twin daughters, D’Lila Star and Jessie James.
The first was captioned, “Heaven couldn’t wait for you,” a nod to her song “Heaven” from her 2013 self-titled album. The singer once described the song as a testament to a fallen loved one.
“‘Heaven’ is about death and finding the strength in knowing that someone had an incredible life and that giving you some type of closure,” she said at the time of the album’s release. Her creative director Todd Tourso previously told Vulture the song was also about watching her mother lose one of her best friends.
Porter, who died Nov. 15, was reportedly buried Saturday. A private memorial honoring the mother was held by Sean “Diddy” Combs Nov. 18. The cause of death is still undetermined but she was reportedly complaining of flu-like symptoms.
She is survived by four children- her son Quincy from her relationship with Al B. Sure, and her son Christian and Jessie and D’Lila from her relationship with Diddy.
