Amidst the news of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile’s horrific death, at the hands of law enforcement, Beyonce wrote a passionate open letter urging fans to get in formation and contact their local congressman or woman and demand answers and changes.
WE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF THE KILLINGS OF YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN IN OUR COMMUNITIES.IT IS UP TO US TO TAKE A STAND AND DEMAND THAT THEY “STOP KILLING US.”
The Lemonade entertainer took it one step further Thursday (July 7) during her Glasgow show when she honored Sterling, Castile and the countless other black men and women who have also been killed by police. Singing “Freedom” a cappella with a bit more fervor and intensity, Beyonce made her petition known.
After Beyonce’s open letter went live, many who took heed to her request soon learned contactingthecongress.org website had been shut down.
I think Beyonce just broke the internet. pic.twitter.com/7HiV0Bj7nT
