Drake released the highly-anticipated video for his viral hit “In My Feelings” and showed massive love to the city of New Orleans. With appearences from Lala Anthony, Phylicia Rashad, City Girls and Shiggy, the eight-minute video lived up to the expectation.
N’awlins Bounce music pioneer Big Freedia was also in the video, but according to Freedia, she asked Drake to be featured in it. While speaking with TMZ, Freedia said she reached out to Drake after learning the Scorpion artist was in town.
“I decided to hit him up myself and was like ‘Why didn’t you let me know you was in New Orleans?” He was like ‘I just got here. Why don’t you come through? We’re shooting a video tonight and want you to get a few cameos.’ ” Freedia recalled.
Freedia said she then called her glam squad at midnight to help get her camera ready and didn’t arrive on set until 2AM, and didn’t leave until about 6AM. Freedia also maintains there was no acknowledgment of her not being in his “Nice For What” video.

“There wasn’t no real apology because I guess he felt like you didn’t make “Nice For What,” but that’s why I made sure to respond as soon as you hit me up so you could be “In My Feelings” video.”
Drake’s “In My Feelings” was catapulted by a dance challenge started by social media personality Shiggy. The dance took off with everyday people as well as celebrities participating. However, it’s widely accepted that Will Smith’s version, which includes him climbing on top of a bridge in Budapest, put all others to shame.
Drake’s Scorpion album seems to be making regular rent payments on top of Billboard’s Hot 200 charts, spending five weeks at No. 1.
