CNN has recently spotlighted Big Sean by having him discuss the various initiatives he has created in efforts to help the people of his hometown, Detroit. He started the Sean Anderson Foundation back in 2012, with hopes to help out marginalized youth in the community. He also just donated a top of the line recording studio to Cass Technical High School, where he once was a student in.
“What’s funny is I used to get in trouble for selling my CDs in the hallway,” he laughed, remembering his days at the school. “You can just imagine what it feels like to be back.”
Sean is very dedicated to helping out Detroit’s youth, and feels it’s his responsibility to do so; especially after making it out as successful as he did.
“It’s just so easy to get caught in the wrong things when you’re young. As a mentor I see the importance of showing people their inner potential, “ he explained. “I’ve got to give back, that’s my responsibility.”
The video clip also features students and teachers speaking about the importance of what the “Blessings” rapper has done for them. In addition to his contributions and foundation, he also gave support to the Flint water crisis by donating $10,000 dollars.
