There’s no denying Boosie’s authenticity and his impact on Southern hip-hop culture. Whether it’s his past addiction to promethazine/codeine syrup or his battle with diabetes, the Baton Rouge MC has never shied from being honest with his fans. So it was shocking but not surprising that Boosie would announce from his personal Instagram account that he had Kidney cancer.
In a candid and open interview with veteran journalist, Sway for Revolt, Boosie opened up about how he found out that he had the disease, how it humbled him, and how he believed God was punishing him for all the wrong he’s done in the past.
“I wasn’t feeling good, I was slick-side throwing up, but I was still going to get my money in Houston,” Boosie said to Revolt. “And I told the doctor, “Man, let get a MRI” to check my stomach. And I got a MRI and doctor came back like: “We found something on your kidney.” I’m like: “What y’all found on my kidney? He was like: “You got cancer on your kidney.” I was like, “Fuck.” I ain’t going to lie, I just busted out crying.”
However, In December Boosie underwent Kidney surgery to have the cancer removed. He’s now on a speedy road to recovery. You can watch the gripping interview in its entirety in the clip above.
