“Black Heaven” mentions a revered contributor to black culture at the beginning of every line from Dr. Martin Luther King to Malcolm X. Rosa Parks, Bob Marley and DJ Screw. Boosie finds a way to navigate through innovators and influencers without missing a single beat. The man who gets compared to 2Pac in his native Louisiana drops a bar or two for the deceased icon and others.
“I know who giving knowledge up there, 2Pac/He looking down like what happened to this hip-hop/Biggie Smalls probably swagged out laid back/Him and Eazy talking ’bout how it was way back,” he drops on the piano laden track. Backed by Keyshia Cole on vocals and J.Cole running the anchor to drive the message home, “Black Heaven” is another standout in the Boosie catalog. Listen to it now.
