Another one bites the dust on Cash Money, but this time it is a “peaceful situation,” according to Bow Wow. In a video message posted explaining his motivation for parting ways with the label that Birdman built, the 28-year-old rapper outlines his business move, announcing that he has teamed up with Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg. In the six minute clip, Bow Wow clarifies the situation.
“I got so much respect for Birdman, a lot of respect,” he said. “This is a man who took a risk on signing me, not only that, but a person who opened up his space to me […] I never had other issues that a lot of other artists are having, I never had that with him.”

Sharing the motivation behind his decision, Bow Wow’s grievances with Cash Money mirrored that of Lil Wayne, Tyga and Lil Twist, who both pointed to delays in music releases as their issue with the label. He assured that he had a slew of records that never reached fans due to his now-previous record deal.

“I just felt like I had to part ways, y’all,” he explained. “I wanna dictate when my music comes out. I’m tired of going in the studio and making records, and then, you know, I listen to them. Then they get old, and y’all ask for new music and I put it out, it’s like I don’t even wanna hear it, ‘cause I been listening to it for two or three months. That has to stop, man. I got so many records, man. They just gotta be heard, I feel like it’s unfair. And I just can’t be held up by nobody.”
While the details of his new deal remain slim, Bow Wow expressed confidence in Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg, who were both instrumental in the launching of his career.
“Now that I have both of them in cahoots with each other, this is only gonna make my new situation even more monumental. Now I have two iconic legends who are backing me up 1,000 percent, and that’s all I wanted,” he said. “I just wanted a team that believed in me. I wanted a team who understood my vision and was ready to go to war with me.”
