R&B Memories From An ’80s Baby
This is the spot where I’ll be reminiscing about R&B oldies but goodies primarily from the era that raised me–the ’90s. First up is a little act called Subway (no Jared).
Though far from a Boyz II Men or New Edition, the Chicago foursome did drop a melodic hit (in my head, anyway) in 1995 called “This Lil Game We Play.” Featuring 702, it was a single off their debut, Good Times, released under NE member Michael Bivins’ Biv 10 imprint.
The hook: “Girl I want you to stay so we can play this little game we play/Where you go hide and I will seek/Let me be the one to make you weak.”
