Camila Cabello kicked off the 2019 Grammys with a shot of cuban flavor for her performace of “Havana,” joined by Ricky Martin, Young Thug, and J. Balvin.
The performance that Cabello promised would be full of surprises delivered ten-fold with twists, turns, and funky dance moves. Reminiscent of West Side Story, this colorful performance featured dancers and live musicians.
The 21-year old headed the performance with a live rendition of “Havana” before sharing the stage with Young Thug, who strutted around the stage in a crispy tux, a jolting pivot for his 16 bars. Ricky Martin made an impromptu appearance, dressed in white. J. Balvin then popped out to show fans the spirit that rests in his track “Mi Gente.”
An unlikely display of the of teamwork and passion, this performance was an excellent display of the cultural diversity the Grammy committee has strived to achieve. Spotlighting the black and brown gems in the industry, this performance brought spice and flavor to the Grammys.
