Thousands of New Yorkers celebrated Dominican pride and culture as the 35th annual Dominican Day Parade took over Avenue of the Americas on Sunday, Aug. 13. Among the slew of celebrities in attendance was reality television star-turned-rapper Cardi B.
The “Bodak Yellow” artist, of Dominican heritage on her father’s side, floated through Midtown Manhattan blasting her Billboard Hot 100 hit. A sea of fans who knew the infectious record word-for-word, was treated to a Spanish-language remix of “Bodak Yellow.” Needless to say, her bilingual cadence made for a fire twist.
