Cardi B should be reveling in her first big Grammy win for “Best Rap Album,” however, she is folding to trolls and deleting her social media pages. The rapper reportedly deleted her Instagram page after several users flooded her comments, stating their belief that she didn’t deserve to win the award over artists Pusha T, Nipsey Hussle, Travis Scott and Mac Miller.
“I’m seeing a lot of bullsh*t today and I saw a lot of sh*t last night and I’m sick of this sh*t,” she said in a video before deleting her account. “I worked hard for my motherf**king album.”
Almost immediately after Cardi’s televised win and acceptance speech, pop star Ariana Grande tweeted “trash” and “literal bullsh*t,” which ended up just being a poorly-timed, impulsive reaction to her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s loss in the category. However, that didn’t stop people from following suit and writing that Cardi didn’t deserve her win. She is the first woman in Grammy history to win in the Best Rap Album category.
Even worse, Cardi later became entangled in controversy between Nicki Minaj and BET, whose social media team sent out an article with a headline playing into the two New Yorkers’ beef.
Despite the naysayers, J. Cole said that Cardi’s win made him feel like he won. Chance The Rapper also wrote on the star’s IG that she deserved the moment.
