Cardi B and Offset appear to be splitting up after three years of marriage. The “Wap” rapper, whose birth name Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, filed for divorce in the Fulton County Magistrate on Tuesday (Sept. 15).
Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is listed as the plaintiff, according to TMZ. The site reports that Cardi is seeking primary legal custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Kulture, and child support. She also wants Offset to cover her legal bills. The divorce filing reportedly states that there are no plans for reconciliation.
As reported by Hollywood Unlocked, Cardi posted a cryptic message to her Instagram Story earlier in the week that read: “Her heart finally told her to stop wasn’t her time,” and the caption, “It’s time.”
The duo secretly wed in September 2017 and welcomed their daughter the following year, but their marriage has been riddled with infidelity rumors. In 2018, Cardi announced her split from Offset, although they reconciled after he publicly begged for her forgiveness (on bended knee).
The Bronx native recently opened up about her relationship in the September 2020 cover story for Elle magazine. “I do know that my relationship has a lot of drama and everything, but there’s a lot of love. There’s a lot of passion, there’s a lot of trust, there’s a big friendship. It’s always us against the world.”
