While she’s dropped out of the 24K Magic Tour with Bruno Mars due to giving birth to her daughter Kulture, Cardi B is still planning on performing at a high-profile event.
The Bronx-bred MC will reportedly open the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall, per Billboard. This marks Cardi’s first public appearance since giving birth. Cardi leads the artist nomination pack with 10 possible wins, placing her right alongside the Carters.
Weeks after giving birth to her daughter with Offset of Migos’, Cardi announced she would no longer be on the road with Mars.
“I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically,” the “Drip” rapper wrote on Instagram. “I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”
Boyz II Men, Ciara, Ella Mai, Charlie Wilson and The Green and Common Kings will replace Cardi during select dates on Mars’ tour.
The 2018 MTV VMAs will be held on Monday, Aug. 20.
