Cardi B’s incredible 2018 just keeps getting better. The Bronx-bred MC just nabbed her third number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
She is featured on Super Bowl LIII halftime performers’ Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You,” which has been hovering near the number one slot for weeks. The song dethrones Drake’s monster-hit “In My Feelings,” which was at the number one position for a staggering 10 weeks.
“F**K WITH ME AND MAKE SOME MONEY !!!!” Wrote Cardi on Instagram accompanying a picture of a tweet noting that she is the first female rapper with three Hot 100 number one songs. “Thank you @maroon5 !CORONAS on me !!!”
This is Maroon 5’s fourth number one since 2007, and this is the first pop song to hit the number one slot since January 2018. During this trip around the sun, hip-hop has reigned supreme on the charts thanks to Drake and other musicians in the genre like Childish Gambino, XXXTentacion and Post Malone.
“Maroon 5 takes full control of the lead among duos or groups for the most Hot 100 No. 1s in the 2000s and 2010s; the band passes The Black Eyed Peas, Destiny’s Child and OutKast, each with three since the start of that span,” writes Billboard. “Among all acts, Rihanna leads with 14 No. 1s this century (all since her first, “SOS,” in 2006).”
