Turnip for what? Rapper Casey Veggies served fans with the release date for his debut solo album just in time for National Eat Your Vegetables Day.
Veggies took to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook on Tuesday (June 16) to announce the Aug. 7 release of Live and Grow. “Shout out to my fans they stayed down and I did it,” he tweeted. The California native described the album as “a positive, feel good, West Coast album” in a interview with HotNewHipHop.
It’s been three years since he produced his Customized Greatly Vol. 3 mixtape and two years since Life Changes. A month after its release, Veggies signed with VIC and EPIC Records. The rapper collaborated with Rockie Fresh for Fresh Veggies at the end of 2013, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a new release since then.
Veggies hasn’t been idle all this time. He teased a Summer 2015 release after spending the last few months touring with Schoolboy Q and Kid Ink, and appearing at SXSW, Powerhouse, and NXNE. He launched music and an album art contest before eventually revealing the date of his proper debut album. Live and Grow features singles “The Boy,” “Backflip” featuring IAMSU and YG, and “Tied Up” featuring DeJ Loaf, which hit number one on the Billboard Trending 140 last week.
There are seven more weeks until fans can have the inspirational tunes of Casey Veggies, but until then, catch the music video to “Tied Up” and download Veggies’ previous work on iTunes today.
