As rising Detroit emcee CDon continues to release visuals from his second mixtape, Divine Order, he aims to touch our souls with the video for his new song, “Get Behind Me.”
Shot in black and white, it serves as a strong reminder about the tragedies that happen across the country. CDon gives us a sobering look into the streets of Detroit as he and some friends walk around the tent villages — and slums of the cities doing charitable deeds for the community.
Throughout the song, he not only addresses what’s going on in his city, but also reminds us to never forget the memory of Trayvon Martin as he raps, “Now why I see an Arizona I see Trayvon/Why every time I see a bag of Skittles it makes me want to put my hoodie on, stand up at the podium and preach patience/when really, all my flesh want is revenge.”
For those who might not be familiar, CDon is a talented rapper coming from the D, and was featured on DatPiff.com’s Artist Spotlight and a host of other Detroit Hip-Hop sites, as he’s notable for his meaningful lyrics and storytelling along with producing some uniquely soulful music.
