Chance The Rapper, Christina Milian and MTV’s Sway Calloway were on-hand in Chicago to celebrate students’ completion of Get Schooled’s “Get Connected” challenge. The inaugural, semester-long initiative by the non-profit organization tasked high schoolers with several college preparation quests, for which they earned points and raised a total of $100,000.
The 3,000 students who participated completed challenges such as college and financial aid applications, and entrance exams. Prizes included laptops, athletic wear and gaming systems. Points were totaled at the completion of over 50,000 quests in a three-month period from October to January.
“It was exciting to be in Chicago to recognize students that are following Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s example through their dedication to their education and futures,” Milian said at the event.
Chance The Rapper was recently awarded the city’s Outstanding Youth of The Year award for his efforts in the Chicago community. Get Schooled has long partnered with artists and entertainers to motivate students nationwide to be proactive in their education. Learn more here.
