Childish Gambino will no longer be performing at the MTVu Woodie Awards today.
The rapper, who was set to join the list of performers including Mac Miller and Santigold, fractured his foot during one of his shows. Because of the high level of energy he uses while performing live shows, the injury will inhibit him from continuing with his performance.
In a statement issued to MTV News, a spokesperson for Gambino wrote “It is with great disappointment that we announce that Childish Gambino will be unable to perform at this year’s mtvU Woodie Awards after suffering a severely fractured foot over the weekend at a show in Tampa, Florida.”
In addition, dates for his upcoming Camp Tour, which was set to kick off this Friday, have been rescheduled.
The Woodie Awards, however, continue to take place today in Austin following festival performances by Fun., A$AP Rocky, Walk the Moon, Wallpaper., Chiddy Bang and Machine Gun Kelly. Gambino will also still be in attendance to celebrate his award nomination. — Jazmine Gray
