Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, may be dropping the CG from his moniker. The multi-talented artist stopped by The Today Show to promote his upcoming horror film, The Lazarus Effect, and revealed that he’s kinda over the name.
“I guess Childish Gambino is like a period of my art time, and I want to have periods in my life,” he said. “So I feel like Childish Gambino is a period that should come to a close.”

We’re used to rappers changing their stage names over time (see: Diddy and Bow Wow), but where do you go after a name like “Childish Gambino?” The 31-year old rapper may already be thinking about that. He also added that he likes “endings,” but gave no definite answer to if he’ll be ending the rap alias anytime soon.
As he gears up for the Bonnaroo Festival this summer, alongside Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus, he made it clear that he has no intention on quitting music.
“I always want to do music and I love music,” he said. “I’m already putting out projects quietly everywhere and I want to produce.”
