We can collectively agree that a Childish Gambino album in 2016 would be pretty sweet.
The artist hasn’t released a project since STN MTN / Kauai and a studio album since the Grammy-nominated Because The Internet in 2013.
With news of his long-awaited series Atlanta coming to FX this summer, it looks as though the music was placed on the backburner. That is until a few fans on Reddit noticed Andrew Dawson, an engineer who has worked with Gambino in the past, updated his site to include work from Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo and a TBA project from the “Sober” artist. The credit led to assumptions that an LP from Gambino was mixed and expected to drop sometime soon.

In an update from DJ Booth, Dawson’s camp shut down the rumors by blaming the credit on an intern.”That was entered into Andrew’s discography as a placeholder by an intern at my old company and was never meant to be a representation of Andrew’s work (current or forward moving),” their statement reads. “The error has been corrected on Andrew’s website and we have nothing to report on the status or existence of another Childish Gambino album. Sorry for the confusion.”
Moments after, the site was indeed updated.

It’s no surprise Donald Glover’s focus lies in other projects. During a press run for his film The Lazarus Project last year, the 31-year-old hinted his “Childish Gambino” persona was coming to an end. “I guess Childish Gambino is a period in my art time,” he said. “I want to have periods in my life. I feel like Childish Gambino is a period that should come to a close. I like endings.”
With all of the social pages with the Gambino moniker relatively inactive, we’ll have to accept that all good things come to an end.
