Childish Gambino was reportedly injured during his Dallas stop on the This Is America tour on Sunday night (Sept. 23). TMZ reports that about 30 minutes before his show ended, he walked off stage without an explanation.
“I love you, Texas. I’ll see you soon,” he said before leaving the American Airlines Center.
While earlier reports stated that he broke his foot, a source close to the “Feels Like Summer” rapper said that the incident is a result of “aggravating a preexisting injury.” There is no current word about the severity of his injury. TMZ says that concertgoers in attendance revealed that he stumbled on a dance move and missed the mark while attempting to hit a split.
“People in the crowd seemed confused when Childish Gambino left the stage,” writes the site. “They began doing the wave, hoping for an encore. The announcer then told the crowd the concert was over.” Gambino also performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday, where he reportedly arrived in a wheelchair and removed a leg brace before getting on stage.
Donald Glover has stated numerous times that this is his last tour as Childish Gambino, and during the 2018 Grammy Awards, he revealed that his next album is his last using the moniker.
“I’m really appreciative of this. I’m making another project right now. But I like endings, I think they’re important to progress,” he said.
