Chris Brown is maintaining his innocence after he was accused of raping a woman in Paris earlier this year. The R&B singer released a video statement regarding the reports on Thursday (Jan. 31).
The one-minute video begins with a happy Brown exploring the city of Paris with a montage of the Eiffel Tower and the French flag rolling to the beat of his song “Stuck on Stupid.” After an abrupt screeching of a car, the music stops, cutting to news broadcasts reporting on the rape allegations.
“My mom and grandma always said: ‘The Lord can give you a gift and he can take it away.’ I feel like I don’t have to explain any bullsh*t or any lie that somebody has been perpetrating…or portraying me as,” Brown said in the voiceover.
The video continues as Brown is seen in the middle of dance rehearsals. “For me, it’s like, alright, cool, I came out there to do a job and that’s what I did,” he added, before the camera cuts to images of him smiling again. “We’re gonna shoot this motherf**kin’ video.”
As previously reported, Brown was detained in Paris in Jan. 2019 on potential charges for aggravated rape and drug possession. He was released shortly after with no charges filed. Since the initial reports, Brown has adamantly denied all accusations and has filed a defamation lawsuit against his accuser.
