Chris Brown avoids battery charges after a Brazilian woman came forward alleging the R&B crooner punched her in the eye and stole her cell phone over New Year’s Eve weekend at Las Vegas’ Palms Resort and Casino, ABC News reported Tuesday (Jan. 26).
The Clark County District Attorney’s office said that they shut down the investigation after they concluded there was insufficient evidence for Liziane Gutierrez to pursue theft and misdemeanor battery charges against Brown.
Following the accusations earlier this month, Brown refuted Gutierrez’s claims in a statement released to VIBE, and filed a defamation lawsuit shortly after. His publicist Nicole Perna called the allegations “unequivocally untrue.”
