In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Chris Brown talked about his (possibly never-ending) redemption, his No. 2 album X, and his current relationship with his very famous ex. Discussing his journey back into a bright light, Breezy says his goal is not to appease every naysayer.
“I mean, life is life, man,” he said. “If I have to go out every day and try to please every critic, everybody that said ‘Oh my God, I thought he was this, I thought he was that,’ it’s a choice. To buy my album is a choice.”
Brown also talked his latest release, X, which he described as defining “the ten years of me being an artist.” And when it comes to Rihanna, the 25-year-old singer was candid about the two now being friends.
“We’re friends,” he said. “Nothing too serious. We’re not trying to start a life together right now, we’re just having fun.”

His sit-down also turned into a discussion about the controversy surrounding Ray Rice. When probed on the comparison to his fateful 2009 incident, Brown gave advice to Rice and anyone else in similar predicaments.
“My situation was a big – and it still is – a big thing in the world. So I think when it comes to Ray Rice or whoever else is dealing with the same situation, understand what the problem is within yourself and learn from it and making sure that it’s absolutely never going to happen again and that it’s not okay.”
