Following a very public, hours-long stand off with the LAPD, Chris Brown was released from jail late Tuesday night (August 30) after posting $250,000 bail, according to Los Angeles County jail records. The Royalty singer’s latest run-in with the law comes after a woman accused the entertainer of threatening her with a gun.
Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a 14-hour stand off with law enforcement. With a robust police presence, along with helicopters swarming the singer’s home in the Tarzana neighborhood of LA, Brown’s latest encounter with the law received the “VIP treatment” according to close friend 50 Cent who also took to social media to defend Brown.
According to Los Angeles police spokesman Lt. Chris Ramirez, officers responded to Brown’s home at about 3AM. Ramirez didn’t name the woman who made the accusation against Brown, however, model Baylee Curran told the Los Angeles Times Brown pointed a gun at her face. She then said Brown and another man were angry with her when she complimented a man’s diamond necklace. Curran also spoke with TMZ and said she’s visited Brown’s home in the past and never had a problem.
As the details of the case unfold, Brown’s arrest garnered overwhelming media attention, which resulted in many of his peers taking to social media to defend him and condemn the over zealous actions of law enforcement. On Wednesday (August 31) 50 Cent joined the chorus of Brown supporters.
I have a different relationship with Chris, That’s my boy.I watched him come up, a lot of the shit he go threw is crazy to me. If your not safe at home when do you get a break? If someone calls 911 and says you pulled a gun on them in your house, are the police coming to creat a bunker at the end of your drive way for 11 hours to wait for a search warrant? Then live stream it, This must be VIP Treatment. SMH #EFFENVODKA
Upon Brown’s release his attorney Mark Geragos took to Twitter to defend his client and thank his fans for the well wishes.
Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes. Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy
