As Ciara has learned over the past couple of months, the nosey internets will not hold their tongues about anything involving celebrities’ personal lives. Throughout the “I Bet” singer’s transition from Future’s fiancee to Baby Future’s mom to Russell Wilson’s girlfriend, she’s remained classily quiet about tweeters’ strong feelings about her son being around her new NFL beau so soon post engagement.
One of the more prominent critics of Ciara’s son being so visible in the new couple’s courtship is Future. When CiCi brought the one-year-old to Wilson’s Seahawks training camp, Future took to his timeline with some vague but thorny tweets: “Never make a permanent decision over a temporary circumstance… Don’t direct my tweets to kno punk ass hoe.”
While chatting with Gayle King and the rest of CBS This Morning, CiCi made it clear that she’s heard all the side chatter being spewed into her mentions, especially from the men. “It’s been very interesting to hear what a lot of guys had to say and it’s a bit of a doubt standard,” she said. “Because at one point in time when we were together, I took care of his kids as well at a very young stage in our relationship. I was involved very early in the stages of us getting to know each other and that’s been a big conversation. Well, what’s the difference here?”
She continued with her even-tempered read, stressing that the biggest source of frustration isn’t that her name is constantly in peoples’ mouths, but that hate is coming her way without people knowing the whole story.
“To the guys that want to have such an opinion, know your facts,” she said. “I did reach out to my son’s father for him and Russell to speak and he didn’t want to talk to me. We didn’t get to talk, so that was that. I don’t know what more they could expect for me to do than just live my life, and that’s what I’m doing.”
Go ahead and live, CiCi! Watch the rest of the discussion below, where she also talks about her latest album, Jackie, and how she’s holding up with being celibate with Russell.
