It only happens once a year, and you never know who you are going to see in the desert when it’s Coachella time.
2016’s music-free-for-all continued to add to its reputation as a festival that promotes peace, love and harmony. This couldn’t have been proven to be more true during DJ Mustard’s set on Friday afternoon (Apr 15).
After more than a year of not seeing eye to eye, DJ Mustard and YG made peace while reuniting on Coachella’s Sahara stage. The old friends represented for the city of L.A. in the Indio desert to the sounds of “My Nigga” as thousands cheered on. And, you already know, this is the just the start of more good things to come from the longtime amigos.
As Saturday rolled around, the shows continued to produce special guest after guest. VIBE was on the ground when Sam Smith popped up during Disclosure’s set for “Omen” and “Latch.” The U.K. group also brought out Lionbabe, Lorde, Kwebs and more.
At one point we even fond ourselves swept away in a desert oasis created by dancehall star Chronixx — who brought a tropical storm with his band in tow. Jamaican vibes filled the air as the singer — along with his artist Protoje — danced and vocalized reggae poems for the Coachella crowd. Chronixx’s “Here Comes Trouble” made outdoor the outdoor stage explode, and then spread some spiritual healing with “Roots & Chalice.”
Stay tuned for more highlights from day three of Coachella 2016.
