Another fellow Chi-town lyricist just obtained a distinguished honor. Following G.O.O.D. Music cohort Kanye West’s School of the Art Institute of Chicago accolade, Common received an honorary doctorate degree from Winston-Salem State University.

The Academy Award winner dished out inspiring statements to the 2015 graduating class, and capped off the ceremony with his hit “Glory.”
“Congrats to the 2015 graduates of #WSSU #Progress Thanx for the Honorary Doctorate! Dr. Lynn has a nice sound to it. #ImGeeked #WonderfulDay #HBCU,” Common captioned an Instagram post.

Common is currently filming his forthcoming movie Suicide Squad which will hit theaters next year.
