In a recent conversation with Dr. Boyce Watkins, Damon Dash discussed Jay Z’s “Stream Of Consciousness” freestyle at his TIDAL B-Sides concert. Name-dropping YouTube, Spotify and Google, Hov planted his feet in the playing field of his competitors, creating chatter amongst the masses. And if you ask Dame, it’s a sign of the times.
“I was really happy that the disses are now towards the corporate infrastructure, the machine,” Dame told Dr. Watkins. “I know Jay. Whatever is winning is what he’s gonna embrace. So if bringing awareness to being robbed as a culture is what’s now in style, hopefully — that’s what I wanted to happen.”

Calling Jay Z “the most commercial person” he knows, Dame took credit for changing the mindset of ownership and “CEO beef.” While refusing to speak on his personal issues with Jay, the former Roc-A-Fella boss also commented on the perception of his freestyle as a marketing scheme.
“Of course the timing of it may make it look like he’s doing it as a marketing plan but good, everything that he does is a marketing plan,” he said.
